Staats to spend at least 5 years behind bars in November shooting
The Missaukee County man found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the November 2012 shooting at his home will be spending five years in prison.
Donald Staats was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and felony possession of firearms in June. On Monday, Staats was sentenced to 5-15 years in prison.
He was arrested last November after Missaukee County deputies responded to a shooting at his home on LaChance Road near the intersection of M-55 in Lake Township.
Charles Cuykendall, 46, died at the scene from a gunshot wound.
