Kelli Stapleton appeared in a Benzie County courtroom Tuesday morning for a pretrial where the judge says her scheduled trial date, July 16, is 'on track'.
Stapleton's defense attorney is asking the county to pay for the independent criminal responsibility evaluation. The prosecutor has objected, saying that Stapleton has a defense fund.
According to the defense attorney, the $16,000 defense fund has been exhausted.
The judge signed an order for Benzie County to pay for the evaluation but the court reserves the right to get reimbursement from the defense fund if any money is found.
Last year, Stapleton was accused of attempting to kill herself and her 14-year-old daughter, Isabelle.
She is facing a charge of attempted murder.
