Kelli Stapleton will be receiving a criminal responsibility evaluation.
According to Prosecutor Sara Swanson, the defense filed the motion for the evaluation on Tuesday.
Swanson said criminal responsibility will determine her mental state at the time the crime was committed. The case will be on a stay pending the result of the evaluation.
Stapleton has already gone through a competency hearing, which determines whether or not she is mentally fit to stand trial at the present time. She was found competent.
Stapleton is accused of attempting to kill her teenage daughter, Isabelle, as well as herself. She remains in Benzie County Jail, where she is held on a $1.5 million bond.
