State Trooper killed after on-duty crash

Trp. Timothy O'Neill, the state trooper killed in a motorcycle crash on Monday.

ROCKFORD, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A Michigan State Police Officer was killed after being involved in a motorcycle crash while on duty.

Trp. Timothy O'Neill, 28, was on patrol at 7:45 Wednesday morning on his department motorcycle. The crash happened near Wolverine Boulevard NE and Belding Road NE in Plainfield Township.

O'Neill enlisted in the MSP in January 2014, graduating in the 126th Trooper Recruit School.

O'Neill and his fiancee had their wedding planned for Oct. 7, 2017. Director of the MSP, Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue said the department is sadded by his death.

“I ask that you please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers in the difficult days ahead,” Etue said.
