Station president inducted into Hall of Fame

Chris Cornelius thanks fellow broadcasters at awards ceremony.

Media professionals from all over the state gathered at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa Monday night for their annual awards dinner.

Chris Cornelius was inducted into the Michigan Association of Broadcasters' Hall of Fame.

Cornelius is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Barrington Broadcasting which owns 7&4 News.

He went to Western Michigan University and has worked at stations in Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, and Lansing.

Cornelius says the broadcast community is his family and heâ??s glad to join people he has worked with and admired in the Hall of Fame.

â??I think all of that is a terrific fabric and that's probably the most important thing. This is a community of broadcasters. We get to do good and make a living doing it,â?? said Chris Cornelius.

Retired Detroit news anchor Robbie Timmons and Will Tieman and Wendy Hart were also inducted.

Tieman and Hart are co-owners of the Spartan Sports Network.

Tom Scanlan received the foundation's 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award.
