Storms knock out power to thousands in Upper Peninsula
Fri, 19 Jul 2013 13:05:45 GMT —
More than 4,000 Upper Peninsula residents lost power Thursday night due to severe weather.
Major areas impacted include Paradise, Outskirts of St. Ignace, Big LaSalle Island and Sugar Island.
Cloverland Electric Cooperative has restored power back to all of it's residents.
The storm also left behind damage at a local campground as well. At Lakeshore RV Park Campground in St. Ignace they are cleaning up the mess that Thursday's weather left behind.
"The trees were bending and touching the ground," Campground Owner Chris Bellows said.
Campers say the damaging weather arrived quickly around 9 last night. And most of the damage happened within a 15 second span.
Thankfully nobody was hurt in the rest of the campground is fine we are still open and that's what matters
," Bellows said.
The campground hopes to have the grounds cleaned up by the end of the weekend.
