Student stabbed in Ferris State University residence hall, investigation reveals
A Ferris State University student has been arrested after a Ferris student was stabbed at an on-campus residence hall early Sunday morning.
Police officers say the stabbing took place where the suspect and the victim live. The Ferris students are reportedly acquainted with each other.
The victim was treated and released from Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital on Sunday. The university and law enforcement originally reported the stabbing took place at the Oakwood Apartments near campus.
The suspect, who was arrested without incident, is currently being held in Mecosta County Jail. The suspect is expected to be arraigned on Monday afternoon where bond is expected to be set.
The Mecosta County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident. The Ferris State University and Big Rapids departments of public safety have also taken a larger role in the investigation, and the arrest was made by officers from both departments.
