Summer officially arrives a little after midnight Friday morning with warmer and a lot more humid weather on the way.
A large bubble of warm to hot air has been building over the Great Plains and some of that will get pushed towards the Great Lakes region this weekend into much of next week. High temperatures will rise into the 80's for many spots starting Friday with a few areas approaching 90F by late weekend/early next week.
We have also added thunderstorms into the forecast all the way through the middle of next week. It won't rain all day or even everyday, but occasional thunderstorms will pass through this weekend into much of next week.
Longer range climate outlooks show a pretty normal summer as far as temperatures are concerned with near normal rain forecasted.
