Suspect arrested in off-campus stabbing of Ferris State student

A suspect has been arrested in the investigation of a stabbing near Ferris State University's Big Rapids campus. Both the suspect and victim are Ferris State students.

A suspect, who is a Ferris State University student, has been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation of a stabbing of another Ferris State student at off-campus apartments Sunday.

The victim was treated and released from Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital Sunday after being stabbed at the Oakwood Apartments near campus.

According to a Ferris State University press release, the incident took place between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Sunday, February 23rd at the off-campus apartments. The Oakwood Apartments are located on the 19000 block of 14 Mile Road, southeast of the Big Rapids campus.

According to the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office, which is investigating the incident, the victim and suspect were involved in a fight at the apartments when the victim was stabbed. The Ferris State University and Big Rapids departments of public safety have also taken a larger role in the investigation, and the arrest was made by officers from both departments.
