Turkish special forces seized a suspect who allegedly tried to hijack a plane and demanded to fly to Sochi.
According to NBC News, the suspect said he had a bomb and demanded that the pilots fly to Sochi. The pilots turned off the plane's GPS and flew instead to Istanbul, Turkey.
A Turkish official said the suspect was subdued and possibly was drunk.
The plane, of Pegasus Airlines, was searched and officials found no bomb on board.
The official said during the flight from Ukraine to Istanbul, the man got out of his seat, yelled that he had a bomb and then tried to enter the cockpit.
The pilot signaled a hijack attempt and flew to Turkey.
Today marks the official opening of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
