Suspect in East Lansing shootings taken into custody
The suspect in the two shootings in East Lansing has been taken into police custody.
According to a Facebook post by the East Lansing Police Department, the suspect was taken into custody at residence in the 1800 block of Coolidge Road.
Police say the suspect is believed to be involved in both shootings.
The first shooting happened around 11 a.m. at the Rite Aid near the Frandor Shopping Center. Police found a male pharmacy employee in his mid-30's dead of multiple gunshot wounds.
Just minutes later, police in East Lansing responded to a shooting in the 1800 block of Coolidge Road. They found a male victim, also in his 30's, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
There was a several hour standoff at the home on Coolidge Road. The suspect finally came out shortly after 3 p.m.
He is now being held at the East Lansing Police Department.
