Suspect in Ogemaw shooting charged with second degree murder

The suspect in the shooting that killed a 32-year-old man in Ogemaw County Friday has been charged with second-degree murder.

According to the Ogemaw County Prosecutor, Karl Bowen Hatton has been charged with second degree murder, possession of a felony firearm, and being a habitual offender.

The second-degree murder charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Hatton's bond was set at $1 million.

Deputies were called to a home on Henderson Lake and State Roads Friday in Ogemaw County.

They found the victim, A.C. Dennis, was shot in the hand and the stomach. He was taken to the West Branch Regional Medical Facility where he was pronounced dead.

Hatton will appear in court next on January 7.
