Suspect shoots family and himself in Newaygo County

Police and first responders have established a perimeter around a house where the bodies of two gunshot victims were discovered this afternoon.

Authorities are now saying a suspect who was on the run after shooting and killing two people in northern Newaygo County may have killed himself.

Charles Mark Hoover shot and killed his wife Marcia Faye, 62, and his 37-year-old son Charles Isaac on Wednesday afternoon. Hoover, 59, was found dead Wednesday night of a single self-sustained gunshot wound, according to Newaygo County Undersheriff Brian Boyd. His body was discovered by a police robot at the top of a stairway in his home.

The bodies of the his wife and son were found outside of the home off West 17 Mile Road near M 37 in Lilley Township just before 2 o'clock that afternoon

Authorities arrived on scene after hearing reports of shots fired.
