Suspects identified, being questioned in Northwestern Michigan College assault
Three suspects have been identified and are being questioned in connection with the assault on the campus of Northwestern Michigan College.
The suspects were arrested at the Shadowland Motel on Munson Avenue this morning.
Two of the suspects are adults and one is a juvenile. All three are in custody.
The juvenile, 15-year-old Jorge Alberto Vasquez Antonio was charged Friday night with one count of attempted murder and one count of armed robbery.
Prosecutors say they will charge the 15-year-old as an adult. He is being held without bond.
Investigators are requesting charges of assault with intent to murder.
The assault happened in the laundry room at an on-campus apartment Jan. 31 around 8:30 p.m.
The victim, a 35-year-old man from Indianapolis, was jumped by three men, hit over the head with a machete, stabbed in the left arm and also in the back.
The victim was taken to Munson Medical Center for treatment and was released on Wednesday. He was arrested that day for a drug charges.
Police believe the assault resulted from a drug deal.
