Suspicious vehicle report ends in breaking and entering arrest
NORTHPORT, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A report of a suspicious vehicle in Leelanau County led to a breaking and entering arrest of an Indiana man.
Leelanau County Sheriff's Office responded to a call at 9:45 Tuesday morning of a suspicious vehicle at a residence on North Shore Drive in Northport.
The homeowner claimed a red Chevrolet pickup had been in the driveway of the rental home for a couple days which wasn't scheduled to be rented at the time.
Inside the residence deputies said they found a 42-year-old Crawfordsville, Indiana man. He said he had rented the property online but wasn't able to provide any proof.
Deputies said the screen on the backdoor had been cut to get inside the house but key box was intact.
The man was arrested for breaking and entering and defrauding an innkeeper. He is lodge at the Leelanau County jail.
