A 17-year-old Suttons Bay student was arrested after allegedly threatening two fellow students with a knife at a school dance.

A 17-year-old Suttons Bay student was arrested after allegedly threatening two fellow students with a knife at a school dance.

According to the Leelanau County Sheriff, the incident happened at the dance Saturday night. Witnesses say the suspect grabbed a 15-year-old student from behind at the drinking fountain and held an open lock blade against his neck after the student danced with his sister.

The suspect then allegedly told the 15-year-old not to dance with his sister again.

Authorities report another student later told the suspect that "it wasn't right" that he threatened someone with a knife. The suspect then opened his coat and threatened that student with the knife as well.

The suspect has been suspended from school pending a hearing.

He remains in jail until bond is set. The Sheriff reports felonious assault is a four-year felony.
