Swimmers can already see some of the changes that the Grand Traverse Parks and Recreation Committee approved last night.
Today, the Grand Traverse Parks staff put out buoys to mark a designated swimming area. They also added safety stations in case of an emergency.
The next step is to hire a lifeguard and start a swim lesson program at the park.
An "emergency phone" was also approved to be installed.
These changes come after 17-year-old Owen Williamson drowned in North Twin Lake while swimming with friends. Williamson's drowning marks the third in the last three years at that lake.
