Neal Erickson was charged with having oral sex with a middle school student

A Rose City Middle School teacher is being charged with having oral sex with a student.

According to the Ogemaw County Prosecuting Attorney, Neal Erickson engaged in oral sex with a male student between the ages of 13 and 16.

Erickson was a teacher at Rose City Middle School at the time of the offenses, the Prosecutor says. The school district says Erickson was a middle school science teacher and also helped with the drama department. Erickson had been with the district since September of 1996.

He will be charged with three counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, one count of disturbing sexually explicit, visual, or verbal matter to a minor, one count of possession of child sexually abusive material, and using a computer to commit a crime.

Bond was set at $100,000 cash. Special bond conditions include no contact with a minor under the age of 18 without adult supervision and he cannot be within 500 feet of parks or 1000 feet of a school.

Prosecutor LaDonna A. Schultz immediately informed the Superintendent of Schools of the pending charges.

A pre-preliminary exam is set for December 19th.
