A teen and his step-father are likely both being charged after a domestic assault in Richmond Township.
According to Michigan State Police, troopers were called to the home last Wednesday around 8 p.m. on calls of a domestic assault involving a teen and his stepfather.
When they arrived on the scene, troopers found the adult man restraining the teen who was in possession of a 13-inch steak fork that he allegedly used to stab the victim under the arm pit.
Troopers were able to disarm the teen without incident.
A witness told police the stepfather had assaulted the teen who had then stabbed the man in self-defense.
State Police also report there were two children under the age of five present at the time of the assault.
The teen was taken to Spectrum Hospital in Reed City for his injuries, then to Osceola County Youth Facility pending charges of assault with intent to commit great bodily harm.
Troopers are also seeking charges for domestic assault against the step-father.
State Police reports there is also a joint investigation with Child Protective Services due to ongoing complaints of child abuse in the home.
