Teen recovering, 911 calls released from Ionia County murder-suicide
MANISTEE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- The 18-year-old hurt in an apparent murder-suicide in Ionia County is recovering Tuesday at a Grand Rapids hospital.
Friends of Amedy Dewey say she was placed on a feeding tube Monday.
They also tell us she has been put on lighter sedatives and is responding to family but could still face more surgery.
As of Monday Amedy was in critical but stable condition.
Amedy, her mother, Lisa Somers, and her stepfather, David were found inside an SUV on I-96 in Boston Township Saturday night.
Lisa and David were dead while Amedy was seriously hurt from gunshot wounds.
Ionia County 911 has released the calls made the night of the apparent murder-suicide.
"I'm not sure it is an emergency but I'm driving on 96 east and I'm just before mile marker 60. There's a van on the side of the road with like the back hatch open and things were thrown everywhere. No lights no nothing. It just looks kinda funny."
David's daughter says her father had surgery to remove a brain tumor just days before the apparent murder-suicide.
Friends say David picked up Amedy and Lisa after they got back to Michigan from the Bahamas.
Investigators are still trying to figure out what prompted the shooting and who is responsible.
