The verdict is in for Steve Martin trial
CHARLEVOIX COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- The jury in the trial of a Charlevoix County father who is accused of trying to hit a deputy with his truck has finished deliberations.
Steve Martin was facing two charges: Assault with intent to murder and assault with a dangerous weapon.
The jury found Martin not guilty of assault with intent to murder and guilty of assault with a dangerous weapon.
In October 2016 deputies were trying to arrest Martin's son when they say he got in his car, started it and drove it towards the deputies trying to hit one.
On Tuesday Martin took the stand as he answered questions on exactly where he was going when he got in his car.
A sentencing date for Martin has not been scheduled.
