Thieves steal wallet, keys from Traverse City mayor's unlocked truck
Traverse City's mayor was the most recent victim of theft from an unlocked vehicle.
Mayor Michael Estes said thieves made off with a wallet and two sets of keys from his unlocked truck as it sat outside of his house on Monday.
Estes said the thieves got away with $400 in his wallet. It will also cost him about $700 to get a new key system for his truck.
The mayor is using the incident to remind residents to always lock their cars.
Thieves have regularly targeted unlocked cars in Traverse City.
