Thousands gather to ring in 2018 with annual Cherry-T Ball Drop
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Thousands of people rang in the new year in Traverse City last night with the 9th Annual Cherry-T Ball Drop.
A giant cherry that read "2018" was lowered with a backdrop of fireworks.
But despite the cold temperatures people still made it out into the streets for the big moment.
"It's pretty cool. It's really cold out here but there's a lot of people so it should be a lot of fun."
"It's bumpin' man. The music's really loud. It's impressive."
"It's a little chilly but not bad. Definitely worth coming out."
Every year the event raised money for local charities.
This year's donations will go towards The Salvation Army.
