The Michigan State Police is investigating a three vehicle crash that shut down a busy stretch of highway in Grand Traverse County for several hours.
The crash happened Wednesday just before 7pm between 3 and 4 Mile Roads on U.S. 31 in East Bay Township.
Investigators believe a pickup truck crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and then crashed into two oncoming vehicles.
The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital for treatment. A passenger in the truck was treated and released.
The driver of the first of two oncoming vehicles, a 26-year-old Williamsburg man, was wearing a seat belt and received non-life threatening injuries.
Three people were inside the second oncoming vehicle involved in the crash. Two adult men in the front seat received minor injuries. A woman in the backseat was not wearing a seat belt and received injuries to her face.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
