Tornadoes on Labor Day leave trails closed in northern Michigan
Multiple trails are closed in northern lower Michigan because of the severe weather that took place on Labor day.
The Department of Natural Resources warns trail and forest users that trails may be blocked, dangerous, or closed for workers to remove downed trees.
According to the DNR, trails that are possibly affected are Kalkaska ORV Trail and Route, the Frederic ORV Trail and Route, the North Branch ORV Route, as well as the Crapo Creek ORV Trail.
"We appreciate the public's patience at this time while we review and prioritize the damages on the trails," said DNR forest recreation specialist Paige Perry. "We will have trails cleared and ready for recreation as soon as we can."
DNR staff, local trail grant sponsors, and volunteers are actively working together to help repair the damage to the trails.
