Township officials arrested for stealing public money
Two Lake Township officials have been arrested for stealing public money.
The charges include embezzlement by a public official of more than $50, safe keeping of public money and making false statements about finances.
According to the Michigan State Police Houghton Lake post, Treasurer Thomas Rose and Clerk Cynthia Russo will be charged.
Rose if facing a felony embezzlement charge and Russo is facing a lesser charge.
No other information is being released at this time.
The two township officials are scheduled to be arraigned later in August.
