Toys for Tots campaign begins with kick-off party
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Another season of Northwest Michigan Toys for Tots kicked off Saturday with a party at the Great Wolf Lodge.
People packed the Great Wolf Lodge and donated hundreds of toys, making it the biggest kick-off party ever, according to organizers.
There were games, Christmas carolers and a surprise visit from Santa, who flew in on a Coast Guard helicopter.
Kids lined up to takes pictures and meet Santa and his elves.
The most important part of the celebration was all of the toys donated according to Mike Kent from Toys for Tots.
"Ultimately our one goal is to make sure that every child in northern Michigan has a wonderful Christmas," Kent said. "So that's where Toys for Tots comes in. We are going to have, just number five County area, over 100 dropoff locations. This is just the start."
Everyone who attended the event got a free water park pass to the Great Wolf Lodge.
People also got to meet 7&4's own Storm Team Meteorologists Joe Charlevoix, Mark Watkins and Blake Hansen.
