A portion of M-72 reopened to traffic nearly three hours after Leelanau County Sheriff's deputies blocked the road from East Cedar Valley to South Cedar Run due to a two car crash Monday.
According to the Leelanau County Sheriff's deputies, a 25-year-old woman driving a Pontiac Vibe was heading westbound on M-72. The woman, from California, lost control of her Pontiac, causing her vehicle to spin into an oncoming vehicle around 10:15 a.m.
The Pontiac hit a van who was carrying four people from Germany. The four people in the van suffered minor injuries.
The woman driving the Pontiac, was taken to Munson Medical Center for serious injuries.
Deputies say rain had just started to fall at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
