Traverse City man arrested after ramming his truck into police car
A Traverse City man was arrested after police say he rammed his truck into a Traverse City Police car.
According to the Police Department, the incident happened around 12:30 Tuesday morning near 7th and Maple streets.
Police attempted to stop the car after it was reported that the man was driving erratically. The driver stopped briefly before accelerating quickly and driving head-on into a Police K-9 vehicle.
The driver, a 36-year-old Traverse City man, is being treated at Munson Medical Center.
Officer Tim Smith was taken to Munson for treatment as well and as been released. The police dog was not injured.
Police are reporting the driver did have alcohol in his system at the time of the crash.
