Traverse City man in jail, accused of recording underage girl in bathroom

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- A Traverse City man is in jail, accused of putting a hidden camera in a bathroom and taping an underage girl.

Stephen Paul Liddicoat was arrested by a fugitive team out of Charleston, South Carolina.

The incident happened at a rental home on Grant Street in Traverse City.

Traverse City Police say Liddicoat was staying there in December. A 12-year-old girl noticed a red light in the hamper, and found a camera.

He was arrested on an unrelated warrant out of Charlevoix and then left the state.

According to police, two boys and two girls used the same bathroom.

“It is very serious. I mean it's actually disturbing to know that an individual would do that and put something in the restroom and record somebody when they are not expecting to be recorded and to take photos and possibly distribute them," said Traverse City Police Captain Keith Gillis. "It's very disturbing."

Liddicoat is facing two felony charges.

He is in a South Carolina jail and will be extradited back to Michigan.
