      Traverse City man pleads guilty to drunk driving and hitting off-duty deputy with his car

      A 25-year-old Traverse City man pleaded guilty Wednesday after being arrested for hitting an off-duty deputy with his car then driving away.

      A 25-year-old Traverse City man pleaded guilty Wednesday after being arrested for hitting an off-duty sheriff's deputy with his car then driving away.

      Chaise Michael Russell plead guilty on two counts, failure to stop or identify at a personal injury accident and operating while intoxicated causing serious injury.

      Richard Bielewicz, a corrections officer, was riding his bike and hit from behind. Bielewicz spent two days in the hospital and then released.

      The incident happened the morning of May 31 on Barney Rd. near Gray Rd.

      Russell is scheduled to be sentenced on July 15.
