Traverse City man sentenced to jail for hitting off-duty deputy with car
The 25-year-old Traverse City man who pleaded guilty to hitting an off-duty sheriff's deputy with his car and then driving off was sentenced to jail on Tuesday.
Chaise Michael Russell was sentenced to nine months in jail and two years probation. He pleaded guilty to three counts, one count for failure to stop, one count for operating while intoxicated and causing serious injury, as well as one count for a moving violation causing serious impairment.
The officer was riding his bike when he was hit from behind on May 31.
