Traverse City man wants to rent Open Space every weekend for 'Quiet Festival'

Officials say the man wanted to rent the area to make sure no other festival could use the Open Space.

A Traverse City man wants to rent the Open Space next summer for every weekend, excluding the ones previously booked for what he is calling the "Quiet Festival of 2014."

On the application submitted to the City Clerk's office, the man said no one would be attending the festival which has dates listed as every weekend between May 31 and August 31 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m..

Officials say the man wanted to rent the area to ensure no other festival could use the Open Space.

The City Clerk's Office has denied the request, but officials say it brought up the issue of how many festivals come to Traverse City.

The Commission has said they will tackle that issue at a meeting last this month.
