Two arrested for year-long retail fraud from Wal-mart
Two people were arrested for stealing nearly $2000 worth of merchandise from Wal-mart in Emmet County.
Colleen White, 23, and George White, 42, of Alanson were arrested last week of felony charges of retail fraud.
According to Sheriff Pete Wallin, the the suspects had been stealing from the store for a year.
Deputies seized nearly $2000 worth of stolen merchandise.
Sheriff Wallin said a new retail law went into effect on April 1 making organized retail fraud a 5 year felony. \
"These types of complaints have certainly increased lately, but hopefully with the new retail laws it will stop some of this activity," said Sheriff Wallin.
While Colleen White is currently out on bond, George White remains lodged at the Emmet County Jail with a $10,000 bond.
