Two arrested in overdose death
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Two people were charged in an investigation into a death at Denny's in Grand Traverse County.
According to the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office, Toby Park, 38, was seen on surveillance video allegedly selling drugs to Jerald Friedgen.
Wednesday, February 7 Friedgen died from an apparent drug overdose in the bathroom of the Denny's.
Deputies are still awaiting the toxicology report on Friedgen but believe he may have taken heroin laced with fentanyl, a potent opioid which can be fatal in small amounts.
Park was arrested Thursday on an outstanding downstate warrant and charged in the Grand Traverse County case.
On Thursday deputies got a search warrant and searched a home in Grand Traverse County.
Deputies said evidence was taken from the home and a 61-year-old Jeri Browne was arrested during the search.
While Browne was arrested in the search, deputies can't say whether she is directly connected to Friedgen's death.
Park was arraigned Monday on a charge of controlled substance-delivery/manufacturing less than 50 grams.
Park will be back in court February 26 for a probable cause hearing and March 5 for a preliminary exam.
