Two dead in crash involving semi-truck on M-32 in Otsego County

The crash has shut down part of M-32 between Johannesburg and Gaylord and is involving a semi-truck that was hauling lumber.

State Police are confirming 58 year old Mary Ann Green, and her son, 36 year old Christopher Allen Jay were killed when their car collided with a semi-tractor trailer on M-32 east of Gaylord Wednesday.

The crash shut down part of M-32 between Johannesburg and Gaylord.

State Police believe the car driven by Green lost control and crossed into the other lane. At that time, the semi slammed into the car splitting it in two. The semi rolled over the front half of the car.

The cab of the truck is on top of the other vehicle.

"We believe weather was a factor with the slippery roads," a State Police official said.

The driver of the truck has been taken to the hospital to be checked for injuries. State Police are not ruling out the possibility of additional fatalities.

M-32 between Gingell and McCoy Roads remains closed. They hope to have it back open in the next couple hours.

A crash reconstruction team is on the scene of the crash to assess the damage.

The road reopened to traffic shortly after 7 pm.
