Parts of Northern Michigan were doused with heavy rain Tuesday morning.
As is typically the case in summer, rain is not evenly dispersed across Northern Michigan with a few spots picking up close to two inches of rain in less than two hours, others have not seen a drop and could use some.
Topping the list of rain in our viewing area was Allenville in Mackinac County where 1.82" of fell in just a little under two hours Tuesday morning. Other locations seeing heavy rain included Mackinac Island, Wellston as well as Cheboygan. On the other side of things, some places such as Traverse City and Houghton Lake cannot buy a drop of rain. Both locations are running more than an inch and half below normal in rain for the month of June.
Looking ahead, each day through Saturday features the possibility of rain or a thunderstorm. It appears most of the action Wednesday into Thursday will lie across Southern Michigan, but spotty showers or storms are forecasted locally. Later in the week, the humidity will drop and temperatures will cool into the 70's.
