Two men officially charged for counterfeit cash
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mi - Two men from Chicago have been charged after allegedly making counterfeit $100 bills and spending them in Traverse City.
Alen Marshalle Harris and Dajauvon Johneea Williams were arraigned on the felony charges Thursday.
Both men, 23, are facing five years in prison and $25,000 fines.
According to the Grand Traverse County Sheriff, the men bought boxes of chocolate at the Family Fare on Eighth Street Sunday night with $100 bills.
The employees realized the bills had the same serial number.
Deputies tracked down the men from the store's surveillance video, which showed them getting into their gray Nissan.
A few hours later, deputies found the car parked at the Marriott Hotel of off Airport Road.
Secret Service has been contacted for this investigation.
Harris and Williams’ next court date is on March 1.
