GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- A 54-year-old Traverse City man was killed after he was hit twice while riding his bike.

It happened Tuesday around 7:30 p.m. on Silver Pines Road.

According to the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office, 54-year-old David Williamson was riding his bike west on Silver Pines Road. That's when a driver going the same direction hit Williamson from behind. A second driver then hit Williamson on the bike following the first hit.

Williamson was taken to Munson Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

Williamson was then pronounced dead at the hospital.

Deputies say information at the scene suggest that lighting and weather conditions may have been contributing factors in the crash. Both drivers involved remained at the scene and are cooperating with the investigation.

The incident remains under investigation by the crash investigation team.
