Two people were charged Thursday for practicing veterinary services without a license in Newaygo County.
Thomas Bennett, 55, and Julie Bennett, 37, were arrested after Animal Control deputies found dead animals in their home at 11666 N. Bingham Road in Lilley Township.
According to the Sheriff's Department, 10-14 dead kittens were found in a freezer along with a dead fawn and an additional dead cat in the yard.
Most animals were found to have inadequate food and water. Some animals appeared to be sick.
The Bennett's were both charged with practicing veterinary services without a license as well as animal abandoning and cruelty.
Investigators say the Bennett's were in some cases spaying and neutering animals without giving them anesthesia.
