Update: Name released in Ludington marina death

Update Tuesday 9:00am: Authorities have identified the body of the woman who was found in the marina waters in Ludington as Ling Lang Zou.

Zou was 24 years old and had recently moved to Ludington from Brooklyn, New York for employment. Her family lives in China, as did Zou prior to coming to the United States.

She was last seen Thursday around 2:00 pm walking west on Ludington Ave near Jackson Rd.

Investigators are still seeking information regarding Ms. Zou's whereabouts from Thursday until Saturday.

Update Sunday 5:00pm: Authorities now know the identity of a woman whose body was found in the waters of a Ludington marina.

At around 9:30am Saturday morning the Ludington Police Department recovered a woman's body from the Ludington Municipal Marina.

After pulling the body from the water authorities could not identify the woman. But Sunday, an autopsy was conducted and they now know who she is. Her name is not being released at this time but a police statement describes her as 20 to 30 years old and possibly of asian decent.

More information is expected to be released monday.

Police say they hope members of the public can help them determine the circumstances around the woman's presence in the area and of her death.

Investigators in Mason County need help identifying a woman's body that they found in the waters of the Ludington Municipal Marina.

At around 9:30am Saturday morning, the Ludington Police Department was dispatched to the Ludington Municipal Marina Basin on a call regarding a body in the water. Ludington officers, assisted by the Ludington Fire Department, the Mason County Sheriffâ??s Office Marine Patrol and Life EMS, were able to locate and recover the victim.

The victim is unknown and is described as a 20-30 year old female, possibly of Asian decent, 5â?? 1â??, 135 pounds with black shoulder length hair. The victim was wearing a gray pinstripe button-up shirt and black stretch-type pants with a gray waistband.

Police Chief Mark Barnett says his department has not received any reports of a missing person and seeks the public's assistance in identifying her. Barnett says an autopsy will be performed.
