A 61-year-old Vestaburg man is in critical condition after being hit by a car while picking up cans on the side of the road.

According to the Montcalm County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened Sunday around 3:20 p.m. on Howard City Edmore Road near Bollinger Road in Richland Township.
