Voice teacher charged with inappropriate conduct with Traverse City students

Jayme Kratky, 33, was formally charged Monday morning with criminal sexual conduct in the first degree.

A private voice instructor has been charged with criminal sexual conduct after several local students came forward to say he sent them inappropriate messages.

Jayme Kratky, 33, was formally charged Monday morning.

Kratky was a voice instructor who was not employed by Traverse City Area Public Schools, but did teach both at Traverse City West as well as out of his home.

According to the Traverse City Police Department, six girls told the principal that they had been getting inappropriate text messages from Kratky. One girl also said she had been sexually assaulted last summer.

School officials contacted the school resource officer who went to Traverse City Police.

â??We asked (the girls) if anything occurred on school property. They said no. The person wasn't a school employee but they were our students so we took it very seriously,â?? said Chris Davis, TCAPS Human Resources Executive Director.

Kratky was formally charged Monday morning and is out of jail on a $30,000 bond.
