While hunters are away, 'deer widows' will play

"All the shops have different things going on just kind of celebrating the ladies and their special weekend without their hubbies," said event organizer Chrystal Fluette.

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- While many are out hunting this weekend, there is an event in Traverse City for those who chose to stay back.

The village at Grand Traverse Commons is hosting the Deer Widows Weekend.

The event kicked off Friday at 6 p.m. with wine, snacks and an art show.

"All the shops have different things going on just kind of celebrating the ladies and their special weekend without their hubbies," said event organizer Chrystal Fluette.

Fluette said men are welcome to join in on the activities this weekend.

"They are away having fun and I'm here having fun," said Chelsea Hill, who's husband is away hunting. "I love my husband, but this is fun.

The event will continue through Sunday at 4 p.m.
