Woman accused of murdering husband back behind bars

Sheriff Pete Wallin would not discuss the details of Kopenkoskey's incarceration.

An Emmet County woman accused of killing her husband is back behind bars.

The Emmet County Sheriff's Office confirmed Wednesday night that Carol Kopenkoskey is in jail.

Sheriff Pete Wallin would not discuss the details of her incarceration.

Kopenkoskey was arrested in January 2013, accused of the murder of her husband Lyle. She bonded out later that month.

Lyle Kopenkoskey was found dead on October 2 on Kiebel Road in Emmet County.

Initial police reports show that that during searches of the Kopenkoskey home, deputies found an empty .38 caliber pistol case. Forensic experts believe the five bullets that killed Lyle Kopenkoskey may have come from a .38 caliber gun.

Investigators also found numerous books on committing murder and cleaning up crime scenes in Carol Kopenkoskey's possession.

Initial interviews also revealed that it was likely that Carol Kopenkoskey was having an affair with a business partner.

More information is expected to be released Thursday.
