A 37-year-old Ellsworth woman was arrested for embezzling thousands of dollars while managing the finances for an elderly man, according to Michigan State Police.
The investigation started in early 2012 when the woman was working as an independent home aid worker for the elderly man in Hayes Township.
Michigan State Police say in one year the woman wrote 48 checks in her name using the manâ??s account, totaling $24,000.
The woman said she was licensed with the state, but was never able to show a license to authorities.
The woman was taken to the Charlevoix County Jail Thursday on a $2,000 bond. She posted bond and is awaiting arraignment in the 90th District Court of Charlevoix.
