A 22-year-old from Traverse City was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs on Thursday in Elmwood Township.
According the the Leelanau County Sheriff's Office, deputies spotted a car that was stopped on the side of M-22 with foggy windows.
The woman inside of the car was unresponsive to the deputies. The deputies then noticed an overwhelming order of hairspray coming from inside of the car.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies found a receipt that showed a purchase of eight cans of hair spray purchased about a hour and 20 minutes before finding the vehicle.
Eight of those cans, four and an half were empty.
Once the driver became responsive, she was asked to perform multiple sobriety tests. The driver failed and was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs, operating with a suspended drivers license as well as prohibited use of chemical agents.
The woman was transported to Munson Hospital for a blood test.
She is behind bars in the Leelanau County Jail.
