Woman born in Traverse City turns to Facebook to find birth mother

A Utah woman who was born in Traverse City 42 years ago is turning to social media to try to find her birth mother.

Jennifer Davis Fernald posted a photo of herself on Facebook this week saying that she is looking for her birth mother. The only information she has is that she was born in Traverse City on April 17, 1971. She said she was adopted in May of that year.

In 1992, Fernald went through the proper channels allowed by law to find her birth mother, but the private investigator on the case came up empty.

"His conclusion was that the name she put on the record was not her real name," Fernald said. "It was a made up name so the only way I can find her is if she recognizes this and comes forward."

Fernald recently lost her adoptive mother and was compelled to search again for her birth mother.
