A 36-year-old Leroy man was arrested after police say he robbed and attempted to abduct a woman at the Dollar General in Shepherd.
According to Michigan State Police, a 23-year-old St. Louis woman was shopping at the store when she was grabbed from behind and forced into the back room. The suspect demanded money from the woman and threatened to kill her if she screamed. The man took the woman's phone, bound her hand and covered her mouth with a paper towel and tape.
The man was armed with a pair of scissors and threatened to pull a gun from his pocket.
The woman suffered no physical injuries during the incident.
Police say the man was traveling through the area during the time of the attack. He later confessed to the attack and is being held at the Isabella County Jail. During a search of the suspect's car, police also seized marijuana and additional evidence of the attack.
Charges resulting from the attack are expected Thursday afternoon. A name is being withheld pending arraignment.
