Woman facing arson and domestic violence charges in Otsego County
A 41-year-old woman is facing both arson and domestic charges in Otsego County stemming from the Vanderbilt house fire in July.
Dawn Weatherwax is scheduled to be arraigned on arson charges on Sept. 11. Weatherwax will also have a pretrial for the domestic violence charges on Wednesday Aug. 20. She will have a jury status conference on Sept. 8.
In July, emergency crews responded to a 911 call saying a Vanderbilt home was engulfed in flames.
Once the fire was under control, state troopers arrested Weatherwax on charges of domestic violence. When we spoke to neighbors who witnessed the fire, some of them said they heard a female voice say, "I started the fire."
Weatherwax is out of jail on a $4,000 bond.
